Job Summary

We are seeking to hire an experienced Plans Examiner to serve the Upstate New York market. The incumbent candidate would be responsible for tasks involving the review of primarily commercial construction documents to verify compliance with applicable state and federal design regulations. The ideal candidate will work in one of the Upstate NY offices with occasional opportunities to work remotely.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review of design calculations and reports prepared by others.

  • Review of commercial project drawings and construction documents to verify compliance with applicable codes and standards.

  • Preparation of code compliance reports.

  • Coordination with other disciplines.

  • Providing guidance and technical consultation.

  • Performing occasional field inspections and site visits.

  • Maintains project schedules and budgets

  • Working with permitting agencies on behalf of TYLin's clients.

QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelors degree in Architecture or a building related Engineering field and 10+ years of relevant experience is desired or a minimum of 15 years of experience in a related field.

  • Proficiency using the following on a daily basis: Microsoft Word, Excel, BlueBeam, Adobe Pro and AutoCAD.

  • Familiarity with the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and/or the ICC International Family of Codes.

  • Must be willing to acquire the necessary training and pass the NYS Exam to achieve certification as a Code Enforcement Official within 18 months of being hired.

  • Must have excellent technical and communication skills.

Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $72,400-$90,500 annually for this position and local market.
